Born circa 1809, Gottfried Krekel, his parents and siblings, arrived port of New York 1 November 1832 aboard ship Isabella. On 2 Feb 1839, Gottfried Krekel married Elizabeth SCHEULEN in or near Osage County, MO. With Osage County formed in 1841 from Gasconade County, the specific marriage county remains unclear. Their first child was probably Joannes Franciscus born 5 March 1841 in Osage County, MO. Known children of this couple were Catherine, Francis, Joseph, Christina, Peter, and Gottfried. Mr. Krekel died sometime after the 1850 District 78, St Charles, MO, Census. Because a son, Peter Paul, was buried in this cemetery, Mr. Krekel's memorial was placed here also.
