Vernon Selma "Sel" Behel 83, Florence died Friday, July 24, 1998, at ECM after a brief illness.
Visitation will be today from 6-9 pm at Elkins Funeral Home Florence. The funeral will be at 2 pm Sunday at Mount Zion Church of Christ with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating will be Robert Huffaker and William Mahers.
The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Mr. Behel was a member of the Kilburn Church of Christ. He was retired form Ballew and Roberts Construction Company and a member of the AFL-CIO Laborers International Union Local 366. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Lauderdale Co.
He is survived by his daughter Betty Faye Gray and husband Morris. He was the loving grandfather of Beverly Wallace and husband Donnie, Loire Spencer and husband Richard, Tina Behel and Melanie Behel all of Florence.
Pallbearers will be Lois, Edward Jr., Glennis, Behel, Jeff Stutts, Danny Crowson, and David Valentine.
Honorary bearers will be Ellis Clark, Edward Clark, Hollie Balentine, and Loyd Valentine.
