On the second day of April, Mrs. Ann Hamlen Severance died in the Sandwich Islands. Mrs. Severance was the widow of a Maine man, Hon. Luther Severance, who was one of the early proprietors of the Kennebec Journal. Mrs. Severance had made her home for many years with her son-in-law, Hon. William G. Parke, who is marshal of the Sandwich Islands, and resides in Honolulu. Mrs. Severance was the daughter of Theophilus Hamlen, who was one of the most respected citizens in Augusta.
