BAIRD -- Rubye Joyce Atwood, 75, passed away in Midland, Texas Friday, January 30, 2004. Graveside services will be held in the Ross Cemetery Annex at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3rd, under the direction of Parker Funeral Home in Baird. Her brother, Dr. Stanley S. McGowen, will officiate. She will lie in state at the funeral home until service time Tuesday. A family luncheon and visitation will be held at noon Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Baird.
Born in Oplin, Texas January 9, 1929, she attended grade school in Oplin and graduated from Baird High School in 1947. She moved to Midland in 1951, and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for various oil companies retiring from Yale Key Enterprises in 1990 after serving as their office manager.
Glenn Atwood, her father, preceded her in death. Survivors include her mother, Lillian McGowen and a brother, Dr. Stanley S. McGowen, both of Weatherford.
Memorials may be made to the Baird Cemetery Association.
