Arthur was born on Arthur Street in the Bronx hence his name. His immigrant parents, Panfilo and Matilda, wanted an American name for their first child born in America.

Widower of Thelma "Pat" née Nelson died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nelda E. Alderson, Monday, July 14, 2008, peacefully from the infirmities of old age, being in his 98th year. Formerly of Dravosburg, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania and Sun City, Arizona. Arthur was born in the Bronx, New York City on 20 May 1910 and son of Joseph and Matilda née DiDinato Buono both immigrants from L'Aquila, Abruzzi Province, Italy. Reared in Pittsburgh and Dravosburg, Arthur graduated from McKeesport High School in 1929 and Arthur was a co-owner with his brothers of the Buono Bros. Monument Company in Dravosburg. Art retired in 1978 and moved to Sun City, Arizona. The Lakeview Bowling Lanes employed him for over twenty years and again retired at age ninety! A past long time active member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus of McKeesport. An avid bowler, gardener, dancer and card player. In addition to Pat, his wife of sixty-five years, he was preceded in death by his siblings Arch (Rosa) Buono; Rita (Dewey) Vallance; Robert (Jean) Buono. One sister Lillian (Bill) Hughes resides in Palm Coast, Florida. Beloved father of Nelda (Bernard) Barone Alderson of Jefferson Hills Pennsylvania; Loy Stockman of Sun City, Arizona; and Miriam (Joseph) Esteppe Palmer of Scottsdale, Arizona. Loving grandfather of Daneen Barone Welborn, Arthur (Annmarie), Samuel (Dana) and Michael (Kathy) Barone; Joseph Stockman (Kathy), John (Cindy), Jerry (Betty), Jeffrey (Rosemary), Julie (James) Wiltman, and James Stockman; Patricia (Michael) Arrington and Mark (Kathy) Esteppe. Great-grandfather of eighteen and two great-great grandchildren including the late Madyson Council. Arthur also will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. There is no visitation. Interment with a memorial service to be held at a later date in New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.
