Daisy Dean Brubaker
(March 12, 1917 - January 11, 2012)

Daisy Dean Brubaker, 94, of Mexia passed away January 11, 2012 in Mexia. Funeral services will be 2PM, Friday, January 13, 2012 at Northcrest Church of Christ with Randy Manning officiating. Interment will follow in the Cobb Cemetery in Thornton, Texas.
Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Daisy was born March 12, 1917 in Thornton, Texas to James Roy and Effie Ellis Manning. After graduating from Richland High School, she attended Abilene Christian University and Texas Women's University where she received a degree in English. She married Rodney T. Brubaker on November 20, 1943. They settled in Mexia, after Rod was discharged from service. Daisy began her teaching career and taught in Fair Oaks, Prairie Hill, Shiloh, Forest Glade and Mexia. She knew the secret of making the world a better place; start by giving the children a true love of learning by teaching them respect for others and instead of speaking unkind words, look for the good in everyone.

Daisy had been a member of the Northcrest Church of Christ since 1948 where she taught Sunday school classes for 40 years. She loved spending time with her family, especially during the holiday seasons. Shopping and working in her yard were her favorite hobbies. Family and friends will always remember her husband's favorite saying, "All I do is drive Miss Daisy"; which he did with much love.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Rod; brother, Roy Manning, Jr.; and three sisters, Jackie Cassidy, Jerry Dickerson and Jimmie Marlin.

Daisy is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Higgins and husband, Sam of Fredericksburg; sons, Rodney M. Brubaker and wife, Patricia of Trinidad, CO and David Brubaker and wife, Patsy of Mexia; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Janis Frost Andrews and Betti Bob McClure; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Sam Higgins, Ryan Brubaker, Derek Brubaker, Scott Holloway, Billy Archibald and Rick Holloway.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Bowie House, We Care Class at the Church of Christ and the staff at the Mexia LTC for taking such good care of Miss Daisy.
