Fannie Lee Johnson Beard, 95, of Holly Springs, died July 30, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare System. She was the widow of Johnnie Beard. She was a member of the church choir; a piano player for more than 70 years at several churches in Marshall County, including Mt. Newell MB Church, Jones Grove MB Church, Reid's Gift MB Church, Antioch MB Church and McIntyre MB Church.

Services were held at 12 noon on Aug. 5 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. S. A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves four daughters, Jessie Ann Austin of Detroit, Mich., Mary Moore of Chicago, Ill., Mattie Balfour of Texarkana, Ark., Dorothy Porter of Fayetteville, N.C.; four sons, Johnnie Beard Jr., Willie Beard, both of Memphis, Tenn., Wilbert Beard, Albert Beard, both of Holly Springs; 32 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Clara Oliver.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Belfoure, Jerris Beard, Patrick Porter, Willis Beard, Keith Moore and Steven Beard. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Beard, Albert Beard, Zadie Moore, Willie Beard, Wilbert Beard and Johnny Austin.
