Charles Kermit Albertson 85 of Amarillo died Thursday January 12, 2012.
Services will be at 4 PM Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr Howard K. Batson and Dr Murray Gossett officiating. A private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Kermit was born June 07, 1926 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota to Charles Paul and Letty Pearl Albertson. Kermit was raised there and graduated from St. Louis Park High School.
After high school Kermit served his country in the Navy with the Naval Air Corps. Kermit attended the University of Minnesota where he earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Kermit moved to Amarillo and worked for both Missouri Valley Construction and Winston Brothers Construction.
In 1951 he married Lou Ethel Knight in Amarillo. Kermit co-founded Western Builders and built many buildings here in Amarillo including First National Bank and High Plains Hospital. Kermit also reconstructed the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Kermit served on the board at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch serving as president for a number of years. He also served on the board at Northwest Texas Hospital and Crisis Pregnancy Center.
Kermit loved Christ and loved his church. He and Lou Ethel taught Sunday school for young married couples for 48 years at First Baptist Church. Kermit sat on the deacon board at the church as well as many other committees. He loved taking Lou Ethel and his daughters to Red River and always took his daughters out on a "birthday date" for each of their birthdays. Kermit was a man of unquestioned integrity in his business, was the best father in the world and is a man that leaves an enormous legacy. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents Charles Paul and Letty Pearl Albertson.
Kermit is survived by his wife Lou Ethel Albertson; his daughters: Jan Rayburn and husband Steve of Plano, Kris Jones and husband Jeff of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jeri Gossett and husband Murray of Amarillo and Lori Stafford and husband Roger of Wylie; his sister Ardythe Iverson and husband Steve of West Covina, California; and by 15 grandchildren: Jeff Rayburn, Blaine Rayburn, Emery Jenkins, Jenny Burghardt, Becca Jones, Brant Gossett, Hunter Gossett, Joy Gossett, Luke Gossett, Blair Gossett, Bethany Stafford, Brooke Stafford, Caleb Stafford, Braden Stafford and Madison Stafford.
