Helen Elizabeth Sanbower, 74, of 27 Atlantic Drive, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Thursday, July 20, 1933, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. Shoemaker and Margaret P. Pike Shoemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Sanbower Sr., in 2006.

She was employed with Maryland Ribbon Co. for many years.

Helen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and an avid bowler and bingo player.

She is survived by three daughters, Theryl L. Aholt of Fairplay, Md., Debra D. Moats of Williamsport, Md., and Tammy L. Joia of Fairplay; one son, Charles E. Sanbower Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Mary Ann Cunningham of Falling Waters, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William H. Shoemaker and Ray E. Shoemaker Sr.

Services will be held Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at 1 p.m. from Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Hank Mansell officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30.

Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Washington County Unit, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
