ANDERSON
Robert Eugene Anderson, M.D., was born February 24, 1910, in St. Charles, Iowa, and died at the Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, August 25, 1985 at the age of 75 years, 6 months. His parents were Hugh Pease and Anna Irwin Anderson and he was the youngest of six children.
Robert grew up in St. Charles and graduated from the St. Charles High School in 1927. He then went to the University of Iowa in Iowa City, and graduated from Medical School in 1934. He had completed 50 years of practice, one year as house physician at the old Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines, and 49 years in Chariton. He was coroner and medical examiner of Lucas County for a number of years.
Dr. Anderson was a fourth generation of doctors beginning in Ohio in the early 1800's.
On July 6, 1935 he was married to Virginia Welch of Gilman, Iowa. She died July 20, 1936.
On October 9, 1937 he married Ethel Batten of Chariton, whose death occurred August 17, 1984.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Dr. N. Boyd and William S. Anderson; and a sister, Amanda Way. He leaves a brother, Gerald H., of St. Charles; a sister, Margaret Strate, of Westport, Connecticut; and a sister-in-law, Thessa, (Mrs. W. S.) Anderson, of Rochester, New York; and eight nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, August 28, 1985, at the Fielding Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fr. Richard Lintner officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
