“Ding Dong” Bell, 88, of Magnolia, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at his home in Magnolia.

Dale was born on October 28, 1926 in the Homer Oil Field, Claiborne Parish, LA. He attended school in Homer, LA and graduated in January 1945. Dale played football, making the LA All State Team in 1943 and 1944 and he also played basketball. He served two years in the United States Army mainly in Japan. Returning from the Army he went to LSU on a football scholarship and he remained an avid LSU fan the rest of his life.

Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Council Board, was chairman of the Board of Trustees, and he taught Sunday school early on. He helped organize and coordinate boy’s football, baseball, and basketball before the beginning of the Boys Club. He was a member and President of the Magnolia Junior Chamber of Commerce and served on Board the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce and was also a member and president of the Magnolia Jaycees. Dale was an avid golfer and was Club Champion in 1967.

He is preceded in death by his parents Houston and Katie Elizabeth (Young) Bell; his five siblings; and his first wife, Patricia Raiford Bell.

Dale is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sheri King Bell of Magnolia; daughters, Cynthia (Jim) Boswell of Magnolia, Kandy (Mark) Bradshaw of Camden; son, Randy (Tina) King of Kilgore, TX; grandchildren, Chris (Tracy) Boswell of Magnolia, Brian (Lauran) King of Montreaux, Switzerland, Kelle (Brian) Marcott of Henderson, TX, Lindsey King of Dallas, TX, Houston (Lexi) Bradshaw of Camden, Will Bradshaw of Little Rock; great grandchildren Lillie Boswell, Wyatt Boswell, Hannah Marcott, Hudson Marcott, Kate King, and Ella Bradshaw; and Toto, his little companion.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kelso officiating and assisted by Rev. Raymond Cammack. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.
