Ernest Romeo "Ernie" Caron, 84, of Groveton NH died peacefully on March 28, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 2, 1924, in Berlin NH, son of Hormidas and Lea (Lemieux) Caron, he had been a resident of Groveton since 1950, coming from Berlin. Before retiring in 1976 he worked for several years for Groveton Paper Board. He was a member of the St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, St. Francis Xavier Church, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion, all of Groveton. Ernie enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, sitting on the porch watching the cars go by, and playing computer games. He also loved spending time with family, Sunday family visits, and supervising the children's projects.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucienne "Lou" (Tremblay) Caron of Groveton; children George (Georgia) Caron of Stark NH, Holly Caron of Groveton, Roger (Ruth) Caron, Daniel (Elaine) Caron, and Diane Caron-Daley, all of Stark, and Ronald (Linda) Caron of Groveton; sixteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings Rita Giroux, Madeline Baldassaire, Robert Caron, Theresa Theriault, Olive Gagne, and Maurice Caron, all of Berlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernie was predeceased by his sons Ernest and Paul; daughter Janine; sisters Jeanne Caron, Cecile Berthiaume, and Marie Berthiaume; and brothers Gerard Caron, Lawrence Caron, and Norman Caron.
