Obituary for the Jacksonville Journal Courier:
"Clyde Ellsworth French died at 12:10 a.m. Friday at Passavant hospital (Jacksonville, Morgan Co., IL) following an extended illness. He was born at Chapin 14 Mar 1890. He is a former resident of the Winchester community and lived for 14 years in Detroit, MI. Mr. French is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hayes French; two daughters, Mrs. Carl Strawn and Mrs. Wilbur Patterson, both of this city (Jacksonville); one grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Flynn and Mrs. John Drew, both of Winchester,and one brother, Frank French, of Nevada, MO. The body was removed to the Danner Funeral Home in Winchester, where services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with Rev. H. Ray Funk officiating in interment in Winchester cemetery."
