George Lee Bragg, lifelong resident of Shasta County, died unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, January 6th. Born in Artesia, California, George and his parents movedto Anderson when he was a small child. He attended local grade schools and graduated from Anderson High School. George served with distinction in the US Marine Corps from 1969 to 1975, returning to his home town to work with his father in their local pump business. After graduating, with honors, from the Redwoods Center Police Academy in 1991, George served as a member of law enforcement with the Shasta County Marshal's Office and the Shasta County Sheriff's Department, retiring in July, 2011 with 23 years of service. "Gentleman" George Bragg was a beloved and respected short-track race car driver for over 30 years on the Shasta Speedway racetrack, where he still holds many track records, and throughout the west coast area.

George is survived by his children, Allison Lea, John Henry, and Kyle Lee Bragg, his companion, Myra, and a close circle of extended family as well as countless friends.
