"Robert Beam Runyan age 68 passed from this life on Friday January 6, 2012 in Butner, North Carolina.

"Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Robertson Mueller Harper Funeral Home, 1500 8th Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas. Services and burial will follow in Louisburg, Kansas with services under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman.

"He was born October 25, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Ward Boyd and Bernice Allene Jenkins Runyan. He was raised in Louisburg, Kansas where he attended the Louisburg Schools and graduate in 1961 from Paola, Kansas, High School, lettering 3 years in Football and 4 years in Band. Bob graduated from Kansas State College in 1965 with a B.S. Degree; was a distinguished Military Student and President of his Fraternity, Sigma Tau Gamma.

"Bob entered the Army as a 2nd Lt., January 1966 and graduated Armored Officers Basic Course and U. S. Army Helicopter Flight School. He served in Vietnam 1967-1968 as a Platoon Leader in A Co., 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion, First Calvary Division. His decorations include the Bronze Star, 20 Air Medals, Presidential Unity Citation, Distinguished Unit Citation and 3 Campaign ribbons. He was promoted from 2nd Lt to a Captain in 18 months. Upon leaving active duty, he remained with the Texas National Guard flying with the 536th (HOOK MASTERS) Aviation Company in Command of a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter platoon. He also served in the G-2 dept (Intelligence) as a Staff Officer to the Texas Adjutant General, retiring as a Major.

"His civilian occupation was Medical supply salesman and he was a founder and partner in United Medical Supply Co. of Ft Worth, Texas, a medical supply firm with branches in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. After semi-retiring, he formed Gammon Technologies, a computer company which he operated for 12 years. His last years were spent teaching History at the Federal Corrections Facility in Fort Worth.

Survivors include: a sister, Ann and husband Dr. Frances Miranda of Dallas, Texas; a niece, Sarah Miranda of Dallas, Texas; two nephews, Sam Miranda of Dallas, Texas and Bill Miranda of Dallas, Texas.
