Ralph K. Alley, age 86, of Church Hill, formerly of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Ralph loved his home church, Okolona Methodist Church. He was a WWII veteran who received the WWII Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the AP Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and one Bronze Star. After serving his country, Ralph worked joined his father as a surveyor for Hugh E. Alley & Sons. He was an avid hobbyist of restoring antique guns and furniture. He loved his family and friends. He was a devoted father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh E. and Bessie Walters Alley.

He is survived by his companion of 40 years, Helen Hobbs; his daughters, Kay Alley, Karen McElhinney and husband Rob and Charolette Davis and husband Lynn; and the mother of the daughters, Agnes Wheeler;; three brothers, Oneal Alley and the late Maude Alley, Hugh "June" Alley, Jr. and wife Ann, and Carl "Toddy" Alley and wife Sis; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 1PM until 2PM in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow with Pastor Charles Eberhart officiating.

Friends and family members will go in procession to Bethel Cemetery, 3774 Stanley Valley Road, Surgoingsville, for a Military Graveside Service to be conducted by American Legion Color Guard Post 3 and Gate City Post 265.

Pallbearers will be Will Alley, Freddie Alley, Bo Alley, Shorty Alley, Raleigh Bridwell and Tim Lingerfelt. Honorary pallbearer will be Johnathon Green.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Cemetery, 3774 Stanley Valley Road, Surgoinsville, TN 37873 or Okolona Methodist Church, c/o Kathleen Ford, 813 Green Street, Church Hill, TN 37642.
