Hubert W. Hudgins

New Point - Hubert W. Hudgins, 87, of New Point, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2000.

He was postmaster of New Point and retired after 43 years, and was a merchant at I.P. Hudgins and Son for 73 years. He was a member of Oriental Lodge No. 20 A.F. & A.M. and attended Beulah United Methodist Church, New Point.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Armistead Hudgins; and daughter, Diane H. Brodrick.

He is survived by a son, Dr. H. Bland Hudgins, and wife, Gaylia, of Mathews; sister, Florrie H. Burroughs of New Point; two granddaughters, Kimberly Gruffi and Vaniene H. DeLucas; two grandsons, Douglas Hudgins and Christopher Brodrick; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Foster- Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 16. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at Foster- Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, with entombment to follow at Friendship Cemetery, Susan.
