Joe Jackson was born to Will Bryant and Julia Jackson in Houston County on October 2, 1917. He attended and received his education in the public schools of Houston County. Jackson later joined and was inducted in the U. S. Army, serving from April 10, 1942 until December 29, 1945 earning the rank of Sergeant. Never married and no children, he returned to his native Houston County where he resided until he departed this life at Houston Medical Center on March 19, 1990.
