Services for Mrs. Florene Tucker Phifer, 76, will by Sunday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Repogle-Lawrence Funeral Home in Medina with Rev. Tim Sanderson and Rev. Dale Denning officiating. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery. Mrs. Phifer died Thursday evening at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
The daughter of the late Clarence and Sallie Stricklin Tucker, she was born in Hardin County and received her education in the Hardin County School system. She was a member of the Medina First Baptist Church, the Golden Circle Sunday school Class and the Eastern Star Chapter 261 at Milan. Mrs. Phifer was a cook at Medina schools for thirty years. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence Phifer, in 1978, a daughter, Martha Frazier, in 1974, and a great-grandson, Jacob Presley, in 1997. She is survived by a son and his wife, Gary and Jackie Phifer of Milan; two grandchildren, Karen Tims and David Presley; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marcie Porter of Medina, Evelyn Cheeks of Humboldt and Ruby White of Savannah and a brother, O. C. Tucker of Memphis. Pallbearers will be Joe Cheeks, Kenny Bland, Edward McFarland, Darrell Fincher, Michael Murphee and Paul Spencer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 until 9 PM.
