SERVICES: A funeral service will he held at 11 a.m. Friday at Community United Church of Christ in Biwabik. The Rev. Susan Faunce-Zimmerman will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik.
Dorothy Mae Biondich, 81, of Lakeland, died Monday, April 12, 2004, in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center.
She was born May 21, 1922, in Minneapolis, to Elling and Anna (Berg) Aase. She moved to Lakeland in 1924 and was a 1939 graduate of Biwabik High School. She married Milan Biondich on Aug. 5, 1944, and they made their home in Lakeland. Dorothy worked for attorney Carl Shuster, the St. Louis County Veterans Administration and as a senior clerk for the St. Louis County Court Administrators Office, retiring in 1984.
Dorothy was a member of Community United Church of Christ and enjoyed playing piano for the Sunday school, the Biwabik Township Recreation Department and the American Legion Kitchen Band. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milan, in 1978; daughters, Phyllis Lahti, in 1968, and Bonnie Rojeski, in 2004; sisters, Birdie Hill, and Bernice Huikari; and special friend of the past 17 years, Joe Kohler, in 2004.
