John D. Bowen, 95, of Temple, passed away December 18, 2011 at his home. 9 days later, his wife of 71 years, F.A. Bowen passed away on December 27, 2011, at the age of 94.

John was born January 9, 1916 in Killeen, Texas, the son of the late O.H. Bowen and Minnie Swope Bowen. On December 26, 1917, F.A. was born in Bell County, the daughter of the late A.C. Barrington and Lilly Pennington Barrington.

On December 1, 1940, John and F.A. married. He worked at Paul Boyd Ford as a manager. After 30 years he retired. F.A. worked for the Social Security Administration in the Claims Department. She retired in 1985. Mr. & Mrs. Bowen were members of Western Hills Church of Christ.

John and F.A. were preceded in death by son, Michael Bowen, John's 8 brothers and sisters and F.A.'s 5 brothers and sisters.

John and F.A. are survived by, son Barry Bowen of Austin, John's 2 brothers J.R. Bowen of Denton, Max Bowen of Houston, and sister LaVerne Elmore of Oakmont; also F.A.'s sister Estallee Hinds of Waco, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A private family service and burial were held.
