Gladys (Manasco) Booker was born September 5, 1910 in Umpire, Arkansas, to Rufus A. and Mary J. (Faulkner) Manasco. She passed from this life January 8, 2012 in Earlsboro, Oklahoma, at the age of 101. After graduating from high school, Gladys moved to Antlers and married George Robert (Jack) Booker in November 1939. They made their home in the Hall community, where they became members of the Hall Free Will Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian woman and even taught a Sunday School class throughout much of her Golden Years. Gladys was also a member of the Hall Home Demonstration Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. Gladys received the state OK DHS Ed Birchall Volunteer of the Year Award for her volunteer work at Antlers Public School, where she helped children with their reading, even well into her 90s. She was gifted and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making custom plates, both for necessity and for pleasure to give as gifts or enter in the County Fair. At last count, she had quilted over 100 quilts. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Mary Manasco; husband, George R. Booker; three brothers; and six sisters. She is survived by her son, Paul Booker and wife Paula (Hauk) Booker of Plano, TX; daughters: Zelpha Hadley and husband Don Hadley of Earlsboro, OK; Sherry Singleton and husband Wayne Singleton of Yanush, OK; and Aletha Burrage and husband Mike Burrage of Antlers, OK; 10 grandchildren: Paul Booker, Jr. and wife Erin, Pennie (Booker) Marshall and husband Alan, Teri (Hadley) Nutt and husband Jason, Jill (Hadley) Rawls and husband Eric, Jon Marc Hadley and wife Amy, Wes Singleton and wife Mary Beth, Steven Singleton, Melonie (Singleton) Parish and husband David, Sean Burrage and wife Carole, David Burrage and wife Heather; 17 great-grandchildren: Alex Marshall, Lance Nutt, Timber Nutt, Derrek Mitchell, Tia Mitchell, Daison Hadley, Molly Singleton, Chloe Singleton, Tony Parish, Josh Parish, Marcus Parish, Dallas Parish, Abbie Parish, Truman Burrage, Carter Burrage, Jack Burrage, Blair Burrage; and two great-great- grandchildren: Bryson Mitchell and Katy Parish. Family Night will be from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers. Funeral Service 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012, Hall Free Will Baptist Church, Brother Gary Everett and Brother Randall Miller officiating; Music: Special Selections by Wes & Mary Beth Singleton.
