Farmer and political prisoner from Beverly, Randolph County(West) Virginia held by the Union.

"Citizen" Wamsley died in captivity at the age of 64 on July 28, 1863 at the USA General Hospital (prison hospital for Confederate POWs) at Chester, PA of "old age and exposure." Wamsley left behind a wife and four children.

Although his name is listed on the War Department's 1912 Register of Confederate Soldiers, Sailors, and Citizens as buried in a mass grave at Philadelphia National, his name does not appear on the monument.
