LT John Lester Daughenbaugh, USN (Ret), 64, formerly of Port Matilda, PA., passed away on January 4, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Philipsburg, PA. on March 2, 1947 to the late Lester and Mae Daughenbaugh. LT Daughenbaugh, an honorable Navy LDO veteran of 27 years served proudly rising through the enlisted ranks before retiring in 1993 at SIMA, Naval Station Mayport with the rank of Lieutenant. LT Daughenbaugh attended various Navy and Air Force schools in addition to serving on board multiple ships. LT Daughenbaugh received numerous awards and commendations. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his Grandsons play baseball. After leaving The Pennsylvania State University to join the U.S. Navy, he earned dual Master degrees from The University of the State of New York. LT Daughenbaugh is survived by Barbara, his beloved wife of 45 years, daughters Barbara (Bryan) McMasters, Lori (Greg) Liberatore and Jacqueline Daughenbaugh. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Taylor, Christian, Courtney and Hunter John Gray and Brittany McMasters and his brother Rabie (Carol) Daughenbaugh of Port Matilda, PA, parent-in-laws Boyd and Barbara Paul of Snow Shoe, PA. Visitation is Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 6-8PM in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach, FL. Services are at 10:00AM Thursday, January 12th in the Chapel of Beach United Methodist Church, 325 7th Ave North, Jacksonville Beach. Burial is at 2:00PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beach United Methodist Church or the Wounded Warrior Project in LT Daughenbaughs memory.
