BARTOW - Mr. Henry J. Carver, age 87, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012 from a stroke.
Born February 16, 1924 in DeSoto County, FL., Mr. Carver was the son of the late Harley O. and Mary (Futch) Carver. Mr. Carver was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He owned and operated Henry's Auto Parts in Bartow for many years.
Along with his parents, Mr. Carver is also preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn B. Carver, son, Aubrey Carver, grandsons Randall Flewellen, Chet Carver, Jr. and great granddaughter Chrystaline Hughes. He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 36 years Ruby Jane Viers Duffey Carver of Bartow, son Chester "Chet" Carver (Linda) of Bartow, daughter Christine "Reena" Flewellen (Mike) of Lakeland, daughter Sharon C. Hughes (Ray) of Polk City, daughter Laura Frankenburger (Jack) of Lake Garfield, son William E. Duffey (Ani) of Indonesia, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Whidden- McLean Funeral Home, 650 East Main Street in Bartow where the family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 9th from 6PM to 8PM.
Funeral services will follow Tuesday, Jan. 10th at 10:00A.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Mr. Carver's honor, to the First Baptist Church of Bartow, or the Gibsonia Full Gospel Church of God in Lakeland. After the services, there will be a luncheon at the First Baptist Church of Bartow. Friends and family welcome to attend.
