Sylva was born June 26, 1920 in Preston, Idaho to Henry Stocks and Vinnie Catherine Dopp. She grew up on the family farm and married her sweetheart in the Logan Temple on June 26, 1940.
Her life was an example of service and devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, neighbor, and daughter of God. Sylva valued education and was High School Valedictorian. She returned to school after having ten children to become a nurse.
She will be remembered for her wit and loving generosity. She loved the Savior and was an active member of the LDS church. Orrin and Sylva served a proselyting mission in Deluth, Minnesota.
Sylva was preceded in death by two brothers, six sisters, two children Coy Miller and Laura Rowland, two sons-in-law Robert Rowland and Delbert Park, and three grandchildren. She is survived by her eternal companion, Orrin, and eight children David (Patty), Janet Park, (Steve Miller), Lucy (Mike) Wernli, Oz (Jaylynn), Paula (Steve) Dison, Sam (Tammy), Dan (Carolee), and Vinnie (Haven) Watkins. She left a posterity of 244 including twenty-two grandsons and twenty-two granddaughters and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the Val Verda Stake Center, 2651 South 500 West, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call from 5:30-8:30 pm on Tuesday evening at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, and 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
Interment-Lakeview Memorial Estates.
