Albert Volberg, son of Frederick Ludwig and Gertrude (Stelz) Volberg, was born in Friedrichsdorf, Germany. He was a newspaperman, artist, cartoonist, and lithographer. He worked in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. In Atlanta he worked for the _Constitution_ as an artist, lithographer, and illustrator. Later, after he began to lose his sight, he became the staff photographer for the _Constitution_. He died at Grady Hospital and the funeral was at his home with his parents, 141 W. Hunter Street. Besides his parents, he was survived by three sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Voigt, Mrs. Elizabeth Kuether, of Antigo, Wis. and Miss Johanna Volberg, and two brothers, Fred L. Volberg, Jr. and George Volberg.
All the pallbearers were newspapermen: Fred Lewis, Dan Carey, Sam Dibble and Alan Rogers, of the _Constitution_ staff; Charles Kelly, of the Atlanta _News_, and Marshall Lane, of the Atlanta _Journal_.
Albert was buried at Westview in Atlanta, in an area of one-plot graves. His stone, like all the others, flush to the ground, is on a wooded gently sloping hillside.
In 1914, his father and mother; his sisters Johanna and Cecilia; Cecilia's husband, William Voigt; and his brother George Volberg moved to Blackshear, Pierce County, Georgia, and are buried there. His sister Bessie Kuether is buried in Ripon, Wisconsin. His brother Frederick Ludwig Volberg Jr., who stayed in Atlanta, is buried at Oakland in a family plot of his wife's--Edna Roy (Marshall) Volberg Marshall. Albert is alone at Westview.
