Clarence was a mechanic, electronics tech and just about anything else he wanted to be. I remember once he made a photo enlarger out of an old brownie camera a cardboard box and a light bulb. It worked too!
I loved to hear him tell his tall tales. He could spin a yarn that might have been partly truth but not the whole cloth. Like the one about him and his crew building a solid mahogany sail boat for the Admiral. This was while he was stationed in Guam and the Admiral sailed the boat from one island to another when they moved. He would go into so much detail, you just had to believe it. Maybe it was!
