Emma and Joe have the first marriage license issued by newly-formed Canyon County, ID, in March of 1895. They were married on Mar. 31, 1895, by Rev. William Judson Boone, at her father's ranch on McConnel Island. They eventually took over that ranch and raised six children there: Merle J., Grace Carol, Roscoe Conklin, Everett Lewis, Reid Lawrence, and Mary Margaret.
After Joe died, Emma lived with daughter Mary Margaret Batson in several places around the country before returning to Boise to live with daughter Grace Dunlap.
