Irene Woodland was born on March 2, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Edward and Josephine Proctor. She was called to rest on December 27, 2011 after a long illness. God knew she was tired.

Irene was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, where she also worked and retired after many years of dedicated service.

She was married on January 15, 1953 to William "Babe" Woodland, who predeceased her on October 23, 2004.

Her spiritual journey began at an early age at First Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Later she became a member of the City Temple of Baltimore (Baptist). She was a faithful church member even though her illness would not allow her to attend physically, she was always there in spirit and regularly received communion at her home from associate ministers. She also was a member of the Women's Ministry.

After retiring, Rene or Aunt Rene, as she was affectionately called by the family, happily helped out by looking after her many nieces and nephews while their parents worked, including one great-great-nephews, Daryl, whom she sat for during most of his early school years.

Rene was a caring and loving person who enjoyed a good crab cake and a nice game of Po-Ke-No while spending time with family and friends.

She leaves to mourn: her son, Wardell Proctor; grandson, Michael "Bobby" Proctor (Rose); granddaughter, Kim Avery (Larry); sister, Hallie R. Tucker; great-granddaughter, Kayla; great-grandson, Trey; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many, many more relatives and friends.
