---------Hunt, Mary (18 MAY 1854 – 21 OCT 1920)
Mrs. Mary Hunt, a well-known and highly respected resident of our city, answered the final summons at the home of her son, C.M. Hunt at Mankato, Minn., last Thursday afternoon, Oct. 21, 1920. The cause of her death was heart failure.
Mary Joscelyn was born May 18, 1854 in Columbus, Columbia Co., Wis. She was united in marriage to H.W. Hunt, March 30, 1873 and three years later moved to Greenwood, Clark County, which has since been their home. Seven children were born to them of whom one son, Donald, and one daughter, together with their father, have gone on before.
There remain to mourn her loss four sons, Clarence of Mankato, Minn., Newel of Milwaukee, Marion and Hale of Greenwood and one daughter, Mrs. C.H. Brown of Brewerton, N.Y. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Oliver Ormsby of Chicago and a brother, Chas. Joscelyn of Worcheester, Mass., besides a host of friends.
A friend has gone from our midst, the community mourns the loss of one whose influence shall live on and bless all whose privilege it was to cross her pathway. She cultivated the habit of cheerfulness until she was able to smile, even through her tears.
She was an ideal mother devoted to her family and also an ideal patriot, giving three of her sons to the country's cause in the world war, all of whom returned well and happy.
She has gone, but only gone on before to that brighter, better home to be with Him whom she loved and served here, for she "looked for a better, that is a heavenly country where God hath prepared for us a city."
Deceased was a faithful and beloved member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, having united with that body in childhood.
Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. Church of Greenwood, Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. E.M. Bickell officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
The bereaved family and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
