A. S. WILLARD DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Landscape Gardener was Member of Edwards Church, Knights of Pythias and Eagles
Northampton, Oct 20 – Alfred S. Willard, 71 of 10 Arlington Avenue died this afternoon after a long illness. He was born in this city April 9, 1872, left for a period of years but returned to live here since 1900. A landscape gardener for many years, Mr. Willard was a member of Edwards Congregational Church, Edwards Church Men's club, Williamsburg Lodge, Knights of Pythias and the local aerie of Eagles, of which he was secretary for 20 years.
Besides his wife, Mrs. May (Brainard) Willard, he leaves a son by a former marriage, Kenneth C. Willard of Belmont; three half-brothers, Frank S. and William H Willard of this city and George H. Willard of Manchester, Ct. and a half-sister, Mrs. Ella A. Underwood of South Vernon, Vt. The funeral will be held at the Newell Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2, with an organ prelude at 1:30. Rev Paul T. McClurklin of Edward's will officiate and burial will be in Bridge Street cemetery.
