HOLYOKE -
Last Thursday a tornado struck the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Howland, 13 miles northwest of Holyoke at about 3:45 p.m. A 40 x 80 hog barn was completely destroyed, and some small pigs were lost.

The tornado also struck a barn close by, tearing out the west and north side and depositing them on the road running on the north side of the farm. Although the barn remained standing, it was severely damaged structurally. Mrs. Howland had just returned to the house from the area struck by the tornado. No one was hurt. Several persons in the area had sighted the tornado.
