Frank A. Fradette age 99 of Seneca passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born September 9, 1912 in Picatee Creek Coulee near Prairie du Chien, the son of Louis and Elsie (Borth) Fradette. He married ClaraBelle Ertel on February 20, 1939 in Waukon, IA. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2011 after 72 years of marriage. They farmed their entire married life in the Seneca area and Frank was also a livestock hauler. He was an active member of his community where he began as the town patrolman with a team of horses in 1935 and later used a tractor and blade to maintain roadways. He belonged to the Seneca Town Board where he served as chairman for six years. Frank served on the Oak Grove School Board for over 22 years. Most people will remember Frank for his famous 21-unit flag train, which spanned over 200 feet and contained over 2000 American flags. He was a fixture in many parades throughout the tri-state area, beginning with the 1994 Prairie du Chien St. Patrick's Day Parade.

He is survived by his sons, Virgil of Woodsboro, MD, Daniel (Julie) of Gillette, WY, Rick (Kathy) of Soldiers Grove, WI and Dean (Karla Schull) of Wausau, WI, his daughters, Dolores Mikkelson of Prairie du Chien, WI, Illene (Leonard) Olson of Gays Mills, WI, and Laurie (Lewis) Ellefson of Mt. Sterling, WI, 33 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his infant twin children, Carroll and Carolyn, his brothers, Arthur and Louis, a sister Edna Scoville along with a daughter in law Ruby Fradette and a son in law Junior Mikkelson.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Utica Lutheran Church, Utica Township, Rev. Anna Sorenson officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, WI. Friends may call on Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
