Verdell Carter, 88, of Huntingdon, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Huntingdon Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Carter's Chapel Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Carter was born January 2, 1924, in Carroll County, Tennessee, to the late Murray Jarrett and Laura Aldridge Jarrett. She was a member of the Carter's Chapel Church and a retired employee of Henry I. Siegel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Carter, a daughter, Frances A. Carter, a son, James H. Carter, nine siblings, Odell Jarrett, Jimmy Jarrett, L. B. Jarrett, Carlie Jarrett, Willie Jarrett, Birdie Jarrett, Bell Jarrett, Clyde Jarrett and Charlie Jarrett.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Martha Carter, of Woodridge, Illinois, two grandchildren, Joyce A. (Bill) Miller, James H. (Patti) Carter, Jr., four great grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Laura Miller, Alison Carter, Austin Carter and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 3 PM till 8 PM at Dilday – Carter Funeral Home and on Saturday from 8 AM till time of services.
