Bill Purves was born August 24, 1930 in Springfield, Illinois to William J. and Hazel Hurlbut Purves. He married Billie Ruliffson on January 13, 1951 and she survives. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, Carpenters Union Local #16 and was a avid baseball and stock car racing fan. He was a carpenter and worked for Jones & Blythe Construction for many years.
