Norma J. Weigel, 70, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Taylor House Hospice.
Norma was born August 6, 1941 to Howard and Blanche Speck in Des Moines. She worked alongside her husband for 35 years at Weigel Excavating and Grading. Norma was a long time member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and enjoyed making ceramics. Her greatest joy came from spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard Weigel; children, Marty (Deann) Hallberg, Jeff (Jane Gunther) Miles, James (Carrie) Weigel, Craig (Michele) Miles, Teresa (Rollie Graham) Wolf, Robin (Michael) Sundell, Shelly (Rich) Steeve, Randy Weigel, and Melisa Burr; 25 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; father, Howard Speck Sr.; brother, Howard Speck Jr.; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Blanche Speck; and sister, Deborah Speck.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, with burial at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
