MARY KATHERINE OTT KEMP, 97, of Charlottesville, VA died on Saturday, November 22, 2003 in a local nursing facility. Born April 1, 1906 in Winnetka, IL, she was the daughter of the late John N. Ott and J. Wilhelmina Forgan Ott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, W. Thomas Kemp, Jr.; a sister, Dorothy Ott; a brother, John Ott; and a granddaughter, Molly. In her earlier years, Mrs. Kemp had attended North Shore Country Day School in Chicago, IL and later Vassar College. Having formerly resided in Baltimore, MD and Saint Louis, MO, she moved to Charlottesville in 1999. A member of the Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore, MD, she was also an active Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer for many years in that city. She is survived by two daughters, Elsie Kemp Schmitz of Saint Louis, MO and Mary Louise Kemp Maroney and her husband, Samuel, of Charlottesville, VA; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Charlottesville and Saint Louis. The family suggests that any memorials may be made to your favorite charity. The family is being assisted with arrangements by Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
