Alta Victoria Childs, 89, passed away quietly on the morning of January 3, 2012.

She was born November 26, 1922 in Gunnison, Utah to Lovell Lorenzo and Susan Almira Swain Childs. All who knew Alta knew her as a good, kind friend, aunt, and sister.

She sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for almost twenty years under the direction of Richard P. Condie. During that time she toured Europe with the choir and appeared in the "new" televised version of "Music and the Spoken Word". She is remembered as an outgoing and loving woman who made life better wherever she could.

She served faithfully in the LDS Church in many callings including stake YW and ward Relief Society. She also served a two year stake mission.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father and brother Ralph. She is survived by her brother Albert "Bert" Childs, nieces and nephew, who loved her very much.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Lake Ridge First Ward Chapel, 2875 South 8000 West. Viewings will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), and Saturday at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Gunnison City Cemetery.
