MISS CARMEN WOOD DIES; RITES SATURDAY

Miss Carmen E. Wood, longtime resident of the Holyoke community, passed away at about 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Melissa Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Miss Wood was 59 years of age. She entered the hospital on June 4.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Lewis Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Dingman of the United Methodist church officiating. Interment will be at Holyoke Memorial Park. The Lewis funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MISS CARMEN WOOD FUNERAL HELD HERE SATURDAY MORNING

Funeral services for Miss Carmen Wood of Holyoke were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Holyoke United Methodist church, with Rev. Gerald Dingman as the officiating minister. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Wood passed away Wednesday morning, June 5, at Melissa Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She entered the hospital on June 4. Miss Wood was 59 years of age and had resided in the Holyoke community for many years.

A native of Loomis, Nebraska, Carmen Esther Wood, daughter of Nathan and Lillie Wood, was born April 11, 1909. Her early years were spent at Loomis and she attended her first year of school there.

The family moved to the Wages community southwest of Holyoke in 1916, residing there for some time, and then moved to Seattle, Washington, where Miss Wood completed her schooling. Returning to Holyoke later, Miss Wood continued to reside in this community the remainder of her life.

Surviving Miss Wood are four brothers, Virgil Wood, Loveland, Martin Wood, Denver, Dale Wood, Holyoke, and Corwin Wood, of Mississippi; two sisters, Mrs. Norma McCormick, Englewood, Colorado and Mrs. Lila Carrick, Holyoke; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
