MRS. LAURA WELTON OF HOLYOKE DIES

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Welton of Holyoke were held on Monday afternoon from the Holyoke Church of the Nazarene with Joseph Lynch in charge of the services.

Mrs. Welton passed away Saturday in the East Phillips County Hospital. She was born May 23, 1885, at Lincoln, NE, and was married to Charles Welton in 1902, at Greenwood, NE. The Weltons lived at Grant, NE before moving to Holyoke in 1928. They moved to Sterling in 1945 where Mr. Welton passed away. Mrs. Welton returned to Holyoke four years later.

Mrs. Welton is survived by six sons and five daughters.

Mrs. Lela Carruthers was pianist at the services and accompanied Mrs. Laura Harding who sang, "Good Morning Up There" and "Beautiful Isle." Escorts were Donald Welton, Charles Welton, Arnold Welton and Larry Fisbeck. Ray Bahler was usher.

Burial was in Holyoke Memorial Park with the Radford Funeral Home of Haxtun in charge of arrangements.

LAST RITES HELD MONDAY FOR MRS. ALICE WELTON, 78

Mrs. Alice Welton, a resident of Holyoke for many years, passed away at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 10, at the East Phillips County Hospital here. She was 78 years of age. Mrs. Welton had been in declining health for some time and had undergone major surgery Friday morning.

A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, at the Radford Funeral Home in Haxtun. Last rites were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Nazarene in Holyoke. Joseph M. Lynch Sr. of Holyoke officiated at both services. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park.

A daughter of Bowman and Hattie Adams, Laura Alice Adams was born May 23, 1885, at Lincoln, NE. She was a member of the Christian Church, having been baptized as a young girl.

On June 18, 1902, she was united in marriage to Charles H. Welton near Lincoln, NE. To this union 11 children were born, all of whom survive.

In 1928, Mr. and Mrs. Welton moved to Holyoke, residing here until 1945. They lived in Sterling from 1945 until 1949, when Mr. Welton passed away, and then Mrs. Welton returned to Holyoke. She had made her home here since that time.

Survivors include 6 sons, Floyd, Los Angeles, CA, Arnold and Leonard, both of Sterling, Donald, Wilbur, OR, Charles, Wheatridge, and Virgil, Arthur, NE; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Lehnst, Plattesmouth, NE, Mrs. Winifred Wheeler, Salem, OR, and Mrs. Ferne Kuskie, Mrs. Iris Fisbeck and Mrs. Myrtle Petersen, all of Holyoke; one brother; two sisters; 35 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
