Frank R. Stahlman, 80, of Sugar Creek Township, Chicora RD 1, died at the Butler Veterans Administration Hospital at 7:50 pm yesterday (January 26, 1972). Born Dec. 21, 1891, he was the son of Benjamin and Christina Shumaker Stahlman.
He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, Chicora RD 1, and had served as the cemetery sexton for many years. He was an army veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Dierken-Ritzert American Legion Post 964 of Chicora and the Golden Age Club of Chicora. He was a retired farmer and before that had been employed by Koppers Company, Petrolia.
His wife, Ruth E. Carnahan Stahlman, died Dec. 5, 1962. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. A. E. (Betty) Stoops of West Sunbury RD 2, Alicia M. Stacey of Mt. Lebanon and Mrs. Robert (Marion) Heck of Chicora RD 4; two sons, Charles T. Stahlman of East Brady RD 1 and Richard R. of Chicora RD 1; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Stahlman of Newville, Pa; a brother, Phillip Stahlman of Tionesta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Two sons, Terry (Sic – Harry) and Frank Jr., died in 1969, within two months of each other, and a brother and a sister also preceded him in death.
STAHLMAN – Friends of Frank R. Stahlman of Sugar Creek Township, Chicora, RD 1, who died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 1972, will be received at the Vensel Funeral Home, Chicora, from 7 to 9 pm Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday, and at the church for an hour before the services. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday from Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Irwin Suplee, pastor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Vensel.
