SPRINGFIELD — The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Harry V. "Vern" Ely of Springfield, who died Jan. 3 of age-related causes. He was 92.
He was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Fullerton, Neb., to Edward and Ina Whitaker Ely. He married Miriam Van Sant on Oct. 16, 1942, in Eugene.
He graduated from Eugene High School. He served as a sergeant in the Air Force as a medical administrative specialist. He worked in the wholesale beverage industry.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Eugene and Daniel of Portland; a brother, Aubrey of Eugene; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, Richard Ely, died previously.
Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.
