An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on April 6, 1922 for Mrs. Mary A. Austin, stated that she had died at the Shelby County Memorial Hospital, Wednesday [March 29, 1922]. Mrs. Austin was seventy-five years of age and was twice married. Her second husband, Mr. Austin died in Shelbyville four years prior to her death. She was survived by a daughter in Denver, Colo., Mrs. Nellie Knodle, and a son somewhere in the south. Also she was survived by a brother, William M. Titus, president of the Bay State Corset co., Springfield, Mass., and a sister, Mrs. Mary A Cleverdon of Berkley, Calif. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. V. Young, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery.
