RITES HELD FRIDAY FOR MRS. WATSON; RESIDENT 36 YEARS

Mrs. Lillian Watson, 80, a resident of Holyoke for 36 years, passed away Tuesday, January 23 at Melissa Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past year.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 26 at the Holyoke Methodist Church, with Rev. Gerald Dingman officiating. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park.

As Lillian Albertina Dame, one of eight children of David and Clara Dame, Mrs. Watson was born April 8, 1887 in Bloomington, Illinois. Her parents were Swedish immigrants.

She was baptized in the Swedish Methodist church in Bloomington on June 24, 1888. In 1889 the family moved to a homestead in Hitchcock County, Nebraska near Stratton. She attended school in that community and grew to womanhood there.

On January 19, 1916 she was united in marriage to James Carr Watson at Trenton, Nebraska. To this union five sons and one daughter were born, all of whom survive. Mr. Watson passed away in 1951.

The family was engaged in the implement business and lived in Haxtun and Sidney, Nebraska before moving to Holyoke in 1932. The home has been here since that time. Mrs. Watson was a member of Navy Mothers club, Royal Neighbors of America and Busy Fingers club.

All of Mrs. Watson's sons served in the U.S. armed forces during World War II. Her home was always open to her children's friends and she was known as "Mom" by many local young men during the war years.

Surviving are five sons, James J., Denver, Duane L., Lakewood, Forrest D., Holyoke, Calvin R., Julesburg, and Darrel B., Fort Collins; one daughter, Miss Pauline Watson, Holyoke; three brothers, Fred Dame, McCook, Nebraska, George Dame, Stratton, Nebraska, and Norval Dame, Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Richards, Stratton, Nebraska and Mrs. Anna West, Brighton; 17 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding Mrs. Watson in death were her parents, one brother and one sister.
