PETER C. KESSELRING, one of the best-known farmers of Washington county, Md. died May 2, at the Old Forge, aged about 65 years. He was hauling water to his house when he was attacked with heart disease.
The following children survive. Elmer who lived with him on the home farm, John, near Leitersburg, James, Downsville, Dorsey, near the Old Forge, Bud and Charles in the West, Mrs. John Hartle, Leitersburg, Mrs. Charles Smith near Waynesboro.
Several accidents marked the funeral of Mr. Kesselring, Miss Kate Etnyer fell down a flight of steps at the house of Mr. Kesselring and was cut about the eyes by her glasses. A runaway team narrowly missed dashing into the funeral procession. The team belonged to Frank Brandenburg, of Frederick county, who, with his daughter, was thrown out and bruised. The buggy was demolished. In the midst of the services a large lamp exploded creating a commotion among the mourners and others in the church. The cause of the explosion is not known, as the lamp was not burning at the time.
