Birdie Belle Scarbrough Copeland was married to Aaron Copeland on September 14, 1905 and two children: Laura Belle (Mrs. Earl Graham) and Roy Charles were born to this union.
Birdie died at her home in Searsboro on Feb. 21, 1928,

Birdie Belle Scarborough, daughter of Clarence Francis and Sarah Belle Scarborough, was born Sept. 1, 1882, at Chesterville, Ohio and died Feb. 21, 1928, at her home near Searsboro, aged 45 years, 5 months, and 21 days. Her mother Sarah had died when Birdie was only one day old.

At the age of three months she was brought to Iowa and cared for by her aunt, Ella Scarborough, who later became Mrs. Dr. Cooper, now residing in Grinnell.

Her father having again married she went at the age of two years to live with him, remaining until the age of 17 years of age. After spending one year in school at Searsboro, the remainder of the time was spent in Chesterville, Ohio, and Chicago, until her marriage to Aaron R. Copeland, Sept. 14, 1905.

Two children, Laura Belle and Roy Charles, were born to this union who with their father, one granddaughter Eulice Graham, one sister, Esther Miller of Colfax, Ia., and two brothers, Gale F. of Akron, Colorado, and Vernon M. of Bridgeport, Nebr. are left to mourn her loss.

At an early age she was converted and united with Robbins Chapel M.E. church near Woodward, Iowa. After marriage she attended the M.E. church at Searsboro and took part in the Sunday school until three years ago when failing health prevented her attending these services. She expressed a desire to live for her loved ones, but said "God's will be done." She loved her home and was true homemaker, a faithful wife and mother, and loved by every one who was acquainted with her.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Patterson, a former pastor, now of University Park , assisted by Rev. Glenwood Stanley, from the M.E. church in Searsboro. Mr. Allen Bradley, Vivian Miller, Mrs. Leonard Alby and Mr. Glifford and "In the Garden." "Ivory Palaces" and "Rock of Ages."

Burial was in the cemetery near the Old Settlers ground at Lynnville. (Woodland)

Those who attended from a distance were her aunt, Mrs. Cooper of Grinnell, her brother Gale Scarborough of Akron, Colorado, her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Miller and family of Colfax, Mrs. J.S. Stoaks, Mr and Mrs. Frank Binegar, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fleener, Charles Manly and Mrs. Ed Davidson, all of Grinnell. Mrs. Ella James of Des Moines, Mrs. and Mrs. Dave Ver Steege of New Sharon, Mr. and Mrs. Bert James, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gause and Mrs. Lin Gause of Lynnville.
