Funeral Services Held Thursday for Alvin Giddens

Funeral services for Alvin Giddens, 55, who died Tuesday afternoon, November 22, 1949, at his home after an extended illness, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Rev. E. L. Henderson, pastor and Rev. John D. Paulk of Valdosta, officiating. Burial was in the churchyard cemetery.

Mr. Giddens was born and reared in Irwin County, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Giddens. He had engaged in farming for many years.

Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Beulah Mixon; six sisters, Mrs. Charlie Griffin, Nashville,; Mrs. T. F. Clifton, Lenox; Mrs. Aaron Daniels, Mrs. J. T. Johnson, Mrs. Willilam Harper and Mrs. Arlie Ashley; four brothers, Allen and Grady Giddens, Ocilla; Jake Giddens, Nashville; Jesse Giddens, Fellsmere, Florida.

His only son, Hershell, was killed in France early in World War II.

Pallbearers were Ermal Tucker, Nelson Griffiin, Richard Griffin, Irwin Roberts, Charles Young and Vinson Grantham.
