Alta F. Parker age 88, of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed away, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Quaker Hill Manor in Lowell, Kansas.

She was born on January 26, 1923 in Quapaw, Oklahoma the daughter of Bill D. & Effie (Nunn) DuRee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward, 1 son, Ed "Sonny" Parker, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

She is survived by 3 sons, Joe David Parker and his wife, Carolyn of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Dennis Parker and his wife, Kathy of Baxter Springs, Kansas and Roger Parker of Longview, Texas. Also surviving is 1 brother, Doc DuRee of Wichita, Kansas and 1 sister, Rose Brown of Miami, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services for Alta F. Parker will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami with Steve Fellers, officiating.

Interment will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dennis Parker II, Dustin Parker, Joe Parker II, Chris Parker, Josh Parker and Kavin Parker. Honorary pallbearer will Tom Dyson.

Thanks to Colleen Oliver (#46869083) for the following information, causing me to recheck the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and find an updated obituary with corrected different info, which I've added above what I had:

Alta Fay Duree was born to William David Duree and Effa Frances Nunn. I know this is her, as her sister is mentioned in the obituary. I do not know where the King came from, other than she could have been married before. I have not figured out who "Doc" is of yet. I am still working on this family.

I know that you didn't put this obit together yourself. Maybe you could put a notation to these facts.

I did some more research and found that Edward Parker's middle name is King. That is Alta Fay Duree's husband. The [1st] obit was a little bit messed up. I know that can happen.
