As a young boy he attended country school south of Friend and graduated with the Class of 1958 from Friend High School. Bill moved to Lincoln and was employed at a machine shop in Havelock and then worked for the grain elevator. While living in Lincoln, Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judith Lee Cogswell, on June 11, 1960 in Friend. To this union two children, Joyce and Kevin were born. Together they moved to Ohiowa and the Bruning area before returning to the Friend area where he farmed until 2000. Bill and Judith moved into Friend and together they operated the B & J Liquor Store. Bill continued to work part-time farming, and he also did maintenance work at the Friendship Terrace. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them fishing and getting up early enough to have his grandchildren help him deliver papers. Bill was a caring father and grandfather and his family was very special to him. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judith Lee, daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Dave Nickel, son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kim Hulse, grandchildren, Jason, Jessika, Justin, Joshua, Kayla, Deion and Danielle, brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Ruby Hulse, all of Friend, sister, Velda Busboom, Milford, brother-in-law, Gale Cogswell, Las Vegas, NV, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and John Riley, Friend and a host of relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by: parents, brother-in-law, John Busboom, niece, Terri Baugh, special aunt and uncle, Wilbur "Flan" and Hilda Hulse.
Interment was in the Andrew Cemetery, Friends, NE.
